Esta sección que nació en 2021 nos introduce a varios sectores geológicos
emblemáticos en el Norte de Chile. Primero se ofrece una visión general de
los atractivos turísticos de la zona, su historia si corresponde, que otras
cosas hacer aparte de la geología y luego se entrega información geológica
básica, muy simple. La sección está pensada no solo para aquellos que poseen
un grado en geología sino para todos aquellos que tengan un cierto
conocimiento sobre el tema.
Existen tres elementos fundamentales en cada Geotour: (1) una ficha técnica
con un texto principal (Ficha 1 PDF), (2) una ficha gráfica con imágenes
explicadas (Ficha 2 PDF) y por último (3) una "galería de imágenes"
automática (HTML) que permite acercarnos virtualmente a esos parajes. En el
caso del "macro" Geotour de la Región de Tarapacá, dada su extensión
territorial, hay varias fichas gráficas con imágenes explicadas y varias
galerías de imágenes.
Esperamos que disfruten de la experiencia de un paseo geológico explicado, y
si es posible, que algún día visiten los lugares propuestos.

This section was born in 2021 but it
was not until 2023 that a part of it was edited in English. The section
introduces the reader to an emblematic sector in Northern Chile: the
Tarapacá Region (Atacama Desert),
and provides an overview of the area's attractions and its natural history
and archaeology. The section is intended not only for those with
a degree in geology or biology but for all those who have some general
knowledge (and a keen interest) in science and history.
There are three fundamental elements
in the Tarapacá Geotour: (1) a technical file with the main text (Technical
file 1 PDF),
(2) a graphic file with explained images (Technical file 2 PDF), and finally (3) an
automatic "image gallery" (HTML) that allows the reader to virtually approach these
places. The virtual "trip" comprises the following realms (from West to
East): the Coastal Ranges, the Western Depression (the Atacama Desert at its
best), the Gulches Domain, the Eastern Depressions (spectacular saltflats),
and the Volcanic Highlands (the final prize: the Andes at above 4000 m of
altitude).
These files should serve as an introduction only: come
and visit the Tarapacá Region, it will prove to be an unforgettable
experience.

de edad Cretácico Inferior.
